  • Summary: An exploration of how we have come to classify people by colour, and the implication it still has on us today. This interactive workshop or assembly functions to analyse the nature of modern day language labels, and the way in which we identify people with visual race instead of ethnicity or nationality.

    Outcomes: Participants will expand their understanding of ethnic diversity and learn to question historically embedded terminology in the way that it impacts both our overall culture and the wide range of individuals in it.

Our Journey of Discovery

  • Summary: A programme that explores the identities and impact of people of colour from the United Kingdom, and their contributions to our country. Participants consider their own identity and the actions they could take to develop themselves and the place in which they live.

    Outcomes: Participants create and present a personal case study based on one of the people explored in the session. The presentation is recorded and used as material for a podcast featured on social media where they can share it with their peers, friends, and family.

Africa Uncovered

Ages: 11 to 19+ (KS3, KS4, KS5+)

  • Summary: A ground-breaking workshop which challenges the stereotypes of sub-Saharan African countries, and explores the diversity through a series of interactive activities and games. It is a showcase of the beautiful places in sub-Saharan Africa that are not commonly seen or celebrated in Western media.

    Outcomes: Participants are left with a much wider sense of the length, breadth and height of the African continent – both figuratively and metaphorically. The workshop works to provide participants with a crucially holistic sense of unity with the world and its people at large.

Discovering Our Heroes

Ages: 9 to 13 (KS2, KS3)

Curriculum Links: PSHE

  • Summary: A lively programme that allows participants to explore the identities, contributions and impact of British people of colour. The sessions are framed through the lens of reimagining local and national 'heroes' as superheroes with powers linked to the type of work that they do.

    Outcomes: Participants design a 'superhero' costume, a character profile (name, age, strength, powers etc.) and create 'Trading Cards' for the studied individuals. The collective cards are then made into a poster and are featured on social media where they can also share it with their peers, friends, and family.

Social Inequalities

Ages: 14 to 19 (KS4, KS5)

  • Summary: A programme designed to nullify the harmfulness and counter-productivity of the 'Social Justice Warriors' label, and instead promote the idea of them as 'Agents of Social Change'. The focus will be to negate things such as 'hashtag activism' or 'cancel culture', and use that energy to affect change in a healthy and sustainable way.

    Outcomes: Participants will create a series of strategies and tools to make them effective Agents of Social Change in the microcosm of their school. Findings and successes will then be featured on social media where they can share it with their peers, friends, and family.

What Injustice?

Ages: 9 to 13 (KS2, KS3)

  • Summary: A programme designed to gently introduce young people to the many injustices that are common in our society. They are taught healthy and balanced ways to grapple with the key issues that may make them or their peers feel alienated, oppressed, and/or mistreated.

    Outcomes: Participants will be prompted to think about, discuss and then create a series of strategies to counteract the series of injustices in their classroom. These are to be featured on social media where they can also share it with their peers, friends, and family.
